Justin and I had been talking about getting married, so I was somewhat expecting an engagement. But I wasn't sure if it was going to happen while Justin was home from work or if I was going to have to wait until he got home from work the next time. Justin had asked me during the week what I wanted to do that weekend and suggested that we go horseback riding. That sounded great to me so that was our plan. Justin came down and stayed at my house (my parents house) on Friday night. We got up early Saturday (September 17th, 2011) and headed for Evanston. It rained most of the night and was still rainy that morning while we drove to Evanston. We got to Evanston and decided to get us some breakfast. After breakfast we went out to Justin's Mom's house. We hung out there for a little while and the weather cleared up enough that we decided that we'd go ahead and go horseback riding. The horses were at Justin's house, so we went and picked them up and headed out to his Dad's house to go riding. We got all saddled up and headed out. I was somewhat wondering when we left if something, like a proposal, was coming for a couple reasons...no one was going with us and Justin's Dad asked if I had my camera. As we rode out it turned out to be a beautiful day.
We rode along for a while until we came to a stand of Aspen trees. Justin said he wanted to get off and take a little break. This is when I was almost positive that it was coming because Justin never says let's get off and take a break.
So we got off and tied up the horses and looked around a little. Justin then started talking to me and the next thing I knew he asked me to marry him. I was so happy!! Oh and I said YES!
We talked a little while longer then got back on the horses and headed back. We got back to Gary's and told him, then went to Beth's and told her...even though they both knew it was coming. We then headed down to my parents house to tell them.
We started talking about dates and trying to figure out what was going to work with Justin's work schedule. Justin was going to have to leave soon to go back to work so we figured that we had better get our engagement pictures taken before he left. Here's some of my favorites from our engagement shoot. I was very happy with how they turned out.
